Are your paintings and calligraphy original artworks? |
|
Virtually all of the artworks listed on this site are 100%
hand-painted (clearly noted in the description), and many of those
are original artworks by definition.
However, though most of the
paintings are hand painted it can be very difficult to certify an
artwork as original, because some follow the same design principles
of artworks created by famous Chinese artists, which enters into a
"cloudy" interpretation of a words definition.
This all makes the definition of "Original Artwork" a bit hard to
interpret, though in general it may be considered to be a
hand-painted artwork designed by an artist. In this sense most of the
art listed on this site is original.
The concept of "Original Art" is a bit over rated to say the
least, as VERY few artworks are truly original according to a strict
reading of the definition of original. This fact is best expressed by
a quote from the French author André Maurois who said "No one can be
profoundly original who does not avoid eccentricity."

this site were created by members of my family in China, or
purchased from their friends who are artists and art dealers.

Are all your paintings ready to frame or already framed? |
|
None of our paintings are framed, but all of them are ready to
frame, even the wall scrolls. It is VERY easy to frame any of the
scrolls we sell. You simply cut the silk brocade material to the
desired size, or remove it completely and add your own matting,
the choice is yours.
All of our Chinese calligraphy scrolls are ready to frame too.
However, some of our calligraphy paintings are on rice paper only
and will need to be mounted to prepare them to be framed. We
offer mounting services to prepare paintings on rice paper to be
framed, and can apply a silk brocade border in a number of
popular colors.

Why do you sell so many wall scroll paintings? |
|
It is much easy to ship and store wall scrolls, and many of our
customers like the look that a wall scroll provides. If you would
like for your painting to stand the test of time we suggest
framing it, so it will be protected from dust, excess moisture
and other elements that can damage the painting.

If an artwork is listed as "SOLD" can I get a similar item? |
|
Often times paintings marked "Sold" on our site are one of a
kind original artworks, thus it will always be listed as sold
out. However, there are times when we have simply sold all of that item
and will be restocking that artwork in the near future.
Even if the
painting or wall scroll you want was a one-of-a-kind original we
may be able to obtain a very similar painting by the same artist.
